Below are the guidelines regarding television and computer use offered by the National Association for Family Child Care. These are part of NAFCC’s quality standards for accreditation (see https://www.nafcc.org/file/bfae1239-d67e-41d9-820d-96c059842fac)

• If screen media is used, the provider assures the content is appropriate for the ages of the children. Screen media is free from violent, sexually explicit, or stereotyped content (including cartoons) and advertising.
• If children use screen media, the provider limits their time of use to no more than two hours per week and for educational use or physical activities. Engaging alternative activities are offered to all children when screen media is offered.
• Children under the age of 2 are discouraged from using screen media. Engaging alternative activities are offered when screen media is offered to older children.
• If a computer is used by the children, the provider limits each child's computer time to no more than fifteen minutes at a time for a total of no more than the two hour per week screen media limit. When school-agers are engaged in an educational project or when children require the use of assistive technology, time using the computer may be extended.
• When used, all computer software promotes children’s active involvement, group participation, learning, creativity, or fun.
• If the Internet is used by children, the provider actively monitors its use.
