The curriculum you use in your family child care program helps you meet learning goals and provides guidance in developing activities and experiences. Checklist for Family Child Care Curriculum:

• Does the curriculum clearly define the roles of the provider and the child in the learning process?
• Are all domains of learning addressed (social-emotional, physical, language, etc.)?
• Will this curriculum meet required early-learning standards?
• Does the curriculum provide ideas for adapting activities to meet the individual needs of children (various ages, learning styles, abilities, etc.)?
• Is there an assessment system that aligns with your teaching philosophy?
• Does research support the effectiveness of the curriculum?
• Is the curriculum appropriate for all children?
• Are specific materials needed to implement the curriculum?
• Does the curriculum encourage family involvement?
• Does the curriculum provide guidance for transitioning?
